FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Kansas City, MO – The Kansas City Tornadoes, a member of the TBL, have signed Tyshawn Patterson for the 2019 season. Patterson, a 6’1” guard, is from Orlando, Florida. Tyshawn is a very quick and athletic guard who can play both the point and shooting guard positions.
He was recruited by NCAA Division I Stetson University. He played for the Hatters for three years, averaging 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
Tyshawn transferred to NCAA Division 2 North Greenville for his senior season, making an immediate impact for Crusaders as a starter. Patterson averaged 23.77 points, 4.19 rebounds, 2.88, and 2.81 steals per game.
Patterson played in the Liga Directv Professional (Colombia) in 2015 averaging 16.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. He shot 56.1% from the field and 94.1% from the free throw line.
He was signed by the London Lightning (NBL-Canada) for the 2015-16 season. He averaged 12.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game. Patterson signed with the Niagara River Lions (NBL-Canada) for the 2016-17 season. In 28 games, Tyshawn averaged 10.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists for the River Lions.
Patterson was a standout member of the Kentucky Thoroughbreds for the 2018 season. Tornadoes Head Coach, Ed Corporal stated, “We are happy that Tyshawn has become part of the Tornadoes organization. He will be a big asset to our team in many ways. He brings a toughness that you need in this league to contend for the title.”
The Tornadoes season will begin in early January and they will play a thirty-two game schedule. KC will call the Hy-Vee Arena home and will play a sixteen game home schedule.
